I think that the story would be a bit better if her sexuality was as jumbled as her mental process is. Though this might interupt the story flow. Unless the reason for her flip from liking women to apparently liking men is that Robert was heterosexual as a man, making Robynne a heterosexual woman. And there is nothing wrong with this.
i whould say it does not matter that s/he is attached to. its the beginning comfortable with the sexuality that needs to not happen. i whould asume if one changed as robynne did it whould be at the front of his/her mind. shering a room with a female for example whould quickly show non atraction to women and if you become aware of the chage in your veiw on good looking roommates. the thoughts about what you like now naturally follow.
but just because s/he is aware of the change is far from being redy to get in to a relationship. i whould say that robynne should avoid relationships for at least 6 - 8 mouth's one for every year he spent attracted to girls.
I kind of agree that Robynne should want to take time to figure out which gender she prefers, but the latest installments show, to me anyway, an inclination towards being attracted to men. It's even spelled out in chapter 41 that Robynne has a ' meh ' reaction to other attractive females. But her response to males seem to indicate a cis-gendered heterosexual female response. And it just might be that Robert/Robynne is heterosexual. No matter the gender. Which as I stated, there's nothing wrong this.
However another thought occurs to me. The newness of the chemicals washing through her brain might be skewing her normal responses. There is also the fact that as Robert, he seems to be very traditional when it comes to relationships. This goes with his upbringing. And for all that has changed for Robynne, this is something that carries over.
The brain is not the play thing of the body. Hormones and everything else biological respond to the brains functions. If the person effectively is the same person they were before but just in a different body then the brain is still hard wired for the original person. It does not make sense for people to believe that just because you have a female body that its the body that makes a woman attracted to men. That is ridiculous and incredibly ignorant. Its about how the brain is hardwired. Since Robynne has very clearly kept her sense of identity and sense of self, meaning she inset literally someone else it stands that the brain has not been rewritten and therefore her sexuality should remain attracted to women. When the brain see something it likes it tells the body to do certain things that then also activate other regions of the brain. It is not the body that does such things. Yes allergies and such that cause reactions on the body exist but those are very very very different from something as mentally maintained as sexuality. It does not make sense for her to be both having been capable of keeping her sense of self and not become someone else entirely AND have their sexuality changed. I honestly find it insulting and degrading that people can still think honestly think this way in this day and age. We should have enough understanding to know and realize that all this change in sexuality stuff is only to pander to gender rules and norms that dont make sense in this context.
I agree with the idea that she should still be attracted to women, it doesn't make sense for her to suddenly be attracted to men just because she is in a female body. And what connection does a person get that just because she was a heterosexual male she would be a heterosexual female? This isn't a complete brain flip here otherwise she would've been perfectly adapted to her body the moment she changed. The fact that Rob was still Rob shows that his mind when he became a she was the same, so it would only really make sense that sexual attraction would also remain the same and not suddenly change to men
Hmm I didn't think of it like that but I do kinda think it would be sad for another gender bender story to go liking men. I'm Transgendered myself and I have nearly cried because of the fact that 95% of all gender benders on the net where the transformation is male to female have the woman liking men. It makes me feel somewhat broken because of the fact I still like women, Ive wanted so badly to find stories where the character likes women still but their so few and far between it honestly hurts a bit. Only royalroadl really has any that fit that category. So I truly hope it doesn't go down the route of Robynne liking men, it'd be nice to be represented a bit more in stories like this one that are so good.
Another trans reader here with my own two cents way down the line. From my own personal experience with hormones, I can say that having my levels for testosterone and estrogen go from 'normal for a man' to 'perfectly normal woman' didn't do much to my sexual attractions. As a man, I was primarily attracted to women. While I might have become a bit more flexible with what I am attracted to, I can safely say that I'm still very much attracted to women.
That said, there are two important things to consider here. Firstly, aside from stated aura interactions, there's no particular inkling that Robynne is romantically or sexually interested in any of the other characters as she is now. Heck, as she is right now, she's definitely going through a lot of conflicting emotions and concepts. Hell, gender dysphoria is definitely not out of the question. Point is, through her experiences, while not doing anything to indicate a change in preferences, have done a lot to mellow out her more male tendencies. Not as much gawking, no indicator of desire. Given her assertion that she most certainly was not gay during her backstory monologue, that probably remains true.
The other thing to consider is emotional readiness. As hammered in plenty of times by now, Robynne's in a pretty rough place. On top of the feelings of betrayal from her failed relationship in the past, she's in this awkward situation where she's being treated like one of the girls in spite of everyhing. She's likely gone into a sort of... holding pattern. She honestly seems like the aromantic sort at this point.
